How it started
 
Cross Clothing was started by The Bornman Family in March 2005. They have been in the corporate clothing industry since 1992 and have brought many years of sales experience into the business, coupled with knitting and manufacturing expertise obtained over the past 13 years.

The company started in a garage with a couple of basic sewing machines and now consists of 14 knitting machines, comprising circular and flatbed knitting machines and a staff in excess of 250 people.
 
Where it all take place
 
A 7000m² factory based in the North West Province where 250 people go to work every day.

Machines
Knitting
  • Terrot Knitting machines are used (24 guage & 28 guage)
Yarn
  • All yarn that is used is ringspun, Combed Cotton 20, 25, 30 tex
  • Yarn delivered directly from the suppliers
Fabrics
  • Greige fabric is sorted according to quality batch and send to the dye-house
Collar
  • Flat bed knitting machines 12 & 14 gauge can produce plain and semi Jacquard collars according to customers needs.
Cutting
  • Fabric back from the dyehouse are layered into different styles & sizes and cut by 100's of layers at one time
Sewing
  • "This is were it all happens" - from the cutting tables all the fabric is send to sewing where the final production of the garment is finalized.
  • It's then send to Shop 22, Tannery Park, Silverton
